An update

I have not forgotten all my fellow animal lovers and advocates. Things have been busy and while that is a wonderful thing, I wanted to drop a line and let you know that these animal causes of the day are still very near and dear to me. I will start up with the causes once again this week.

Please drop me a line if you know of any causes that you would like us to highlight.

Have a great day and thanks for reading.

Fashion should not be Murder- Cyndi's Slick animal cause of the day

Personally, I find it appalling that we can skin an animal alive and call it fashion.  Millions of animals are killed each year are brutally tortured and are condemned to a miserable life. China is one of the major suppliers of fur. There are no penalties for abusing animals in China but PETA is trying to change that right now.

Stand up and become the voice of the voiceless and take two minutes and sign this petition.

Chances are great that while you are reading this another animal was brutally tortured, had their neck snapped, were electrocuted, beaten or had their skin ripped off them while they were still alive. This is horrific and needs to stop.

Don't you think it is time to end the suffering?

Act today

Cyndi Slick's Animal Cause of the Day

Stand up and tell congress that Big cats are not pets. It is time that we stand up and push congress to pass a law that prohibits the ownership of large cats. It is absurd that people actually believe that owning an animal who is wild is a good idea. In the past few years alone, more than 21 people have been killed by tigers, lions and other big cats that are being held in captivity.

It is not the animal's fault, it is the genius who decided that a tiger would make a good house pet. It is estimated that somewhere around 20,000 people have these wild animals as pets. So what happens when the cat decides to escape? They get caught and killed and somehow people place the blame on the animal. This ridiculous behavior just has to stop.

It is impossible for a private owner to give the animal the care that they need. They are wild animals for a reason. They need your help. They need you to tell Congress that is it about time that we put an end to allowing people to own these beautiful creatures.

Please take two minutes to sign this simple petition. We need to speak for those who cannot.

The petition can be found here

Take Two Minutes Right now and Save a Dog’s Life

This adorable dog pictured above had a name. Her name was Queenie.  Queenie was once a very happy and friendly dog and through no fault of her own wound up in shelter. To make matters worse, Queenie was then sold, along with hundreds of other dogs, to Wayne State University. No, she wasn't sold to become a cute and loveable mascot she was told to undergo cruel and inhumane medical experiments.  Queenie was forced to undergo 2 major surgeries that she did not need, she was forced to suffer in pain and run numerous strenuous and painful treadmill tests until one of the medical devices implanted inside her broke. At that time, she was of no use to the study any more and was killed. This innocent dog, who once probably had a family, was never given a 2nd chance on life. Instead she was forced to spend the rest of her short life in pain.

Queenie is not alone and dogs just like Queenie are sold to labs all over the world. Most of the dogs come from shelters and are often dogs that could be placed in a new and loving home. Instead they are forced to endure brutal torture. Imagine if your dog broke off the leash one day and ran away from home. Could your best friend wind up in a shelter? Could your beloved pet become the next Queenie? The sad truth is, yes your pet could very well wind up being sold and become part of one of the many different cruel and ihumane dog experiments that are taking place even as you read this.

Wayne State University is known as one of the leading research institutions. Shouldn't they hold up to the reputation by  using their knowledge and education to find alternative avenues to medical research? Perhaps using computer modeling and epidemiological studies would be a much better and certainly a more compassionate way. You need to act today and stand up for Queenie. Do not let another day go by where more dogs are forced to endure months of unrelenting pain.

Become the voice of the voiceless and simply sign this petition.

Spread the word and let's start standing up for these helpless dogs.

Puppy Mills Breed Misery. Voice Your Contempt

Do you have a dog? Can you even fathom the idea of your beloved pet being forced to live in a tiny wire cage that they can barely move in? Imagine your best furry friend having little to no human interaction, no toys to play with and no one to love them. Heartbreaking idea, right? The sad reality is that this is what the life is like for many puppy mill breeding dogs. It is beyond time that we stand up and stop this cruel and inhumane treatment from happening. If we don’t do something, who will?

Puppy mills have been around for decades due to the greed and selfishness of people.  These helpless dogs become prisoners due to our greed.  These dogs spend their entire lives in small confined cage and freeze in the winter and swelter in the summer. They are breed over and over again until they can no longer be breed. At that point the dog is killed.  The conditions these animals live is beyond disgusting and these mills will continue to appear all the place until we do something about. Puppy mills thrive due to greed and they thrive due people seeing that cute little puppy in the window of a pet store. Where do you think these pet stores are getting their puppy’s from?  While that puppy in the window may be an innocent creature the puppy was breed out of misery and greed. The only way to put a stop to this cruel and inhumane torture is to stand up and let your voice be heard.

Federal and State governments need to get involved and put an end to this.  Legislation needs to be established and those who are running these puppy mills need to be punished. People need to stop buying a puppy from a pet store as when we stop demanding puppies breed out of torture the pet stores will be put of business.

With the elections around the corner the time to act is now. Ohio and Pennsylvania are two of the biggest offenders when it comes to puppy mills. The laws in both of the states need to be rectified and changed.  These dogs need your support. It takes 2 minutes of your time and all you need to do is sign a petition. Do you have 2 minutes to spare the torturing of hundreds of suffering animals?

Follow this link and sign the petition. Spread the message to your friends, your family members and who ever will listen. The time is now. Let your voice become the voice of the voiceless. Go Here, Now.

If you needed more convincing, I invite you to visit this link. However, I warn you the images are not pretty but that what you see is the life of a puppy mill dog. How can we let this continue? Have we as a human race become so detached and so emotionless? Personally, I think the world needs more compassion and what better place to start to help " Man's Best Friend"

I urge you to share this with everyone you know. Do it for your best friend who is probably curled up at your feet right now.

Mitt Romney: Cruel and Inhumane of Treatment of Animals

For most normal people, and I use that term loosely, dogs become part of one’s family. When we go on vacations we often make the choice to take our companion with us or leave it in the care of a trusted family member or friend, right? No one in their right mind would think of placing a family member on top of the roof of a car for a nice long 12 hour drive would they? I guess this just goes to show that Mitt Romney is clearly out of his mind.

In 1983, Mitt Romney and his family were headed to vacation in Ontario, Canada which was a good 12 hour drive from Boston. Romney packed their station wagon with the 5 children and luggage and thought that it would be a great idea to bring the family pet with them.  Which as an avid lover I can understand wanting to bring your dog with you. What I cannot understand is how anyone with a half an ounce of compassion for an animal could justify placing a dog in a kennel and strapping it to the roof for the 12 hour drive.  These actions are more than heartless they are downright cruel and inhumane.  This is the person that has the potential to become President of the United States? Have we all lost our minds?

The Boston Globe reported that during the drive one of Romney’s son noticed that there was brown liquid dripping down the car windows.  Seamus was petrified and scared beyond belief that he was experiencing diarrhea. So, what does Romney do about this situation? Does he realize how cruel and inhumane he is? Does he decide to pull over and show the “beloved” family pet some compassion and allow him to ride with the rest of the family? Of course not, however he does find the time to pull over and hose the dog and the window down only to place the dog back inside the carrier.

Massachusetts state law considers the actions of Romney to not only illegal but also cruel and inhumane.  While this incident happened more than 20 years ago it seems apparent that this story is not going away anytime soon. Dog lovers from all over the world are appalled and they should be.
In a recent interview, Romney had the audacity to claim that “Seamus enjoyed the ride and wanted to be up there”. He goes on to say that the dog was more comfortable being strapped on the roof then he would have been with his family members.  The video can be seen here.

Today, there are more than 78 million Americans who own a dog.  If all of these people were to find out how Romney treats his family pets perhaps Romney will lose a great deal of votes. Do we really want a person who is delusional enough to believe that an animal would enjoy this type of cruel and inhumane treatment as our president? If we allow a person who has no compassion for animals and lives in a very delusional world become president,  what would happen to our nation? I shudder to think of the horrid consequences of having a person leading our nation who does not have compassion.

Share your thoughts and more importantly share this story. Speak up and become the voice for the voiceless. Do it for your dog. Do it for Seamus.
